Tanzanian meat stew



This is a simple meat stew often eaten in Tanzania. Preparing it is not a difficult process and is quite satisfying when done cooking. Beef, Lamb or any meat similar to these can be used in preparing this stew.


Preparation Time: 15 min

Simmering Time: 1 hour

Serves: 4


INGREDIENTS


• 1 Pound of meat

• 125mls of oil

• 15mls of salt

• Juice of one lemon

• 250ml of water

• 5mls of curry powder

• 1 chopped onion

• 3 Potatoes cubed

• 2 chopped carrots (Optional)

• 3 chopped tomatoes (Optional)


PREPARATION

  1. Deep fry meat in half of the oil for a few minutes

  2. Add salt, lemon juice and water to it and reduce the heat

  3. In another pan, heat the rest of the oil

  4. Add curry powder while stirring

  5. Add onions and potatoes

  6. Add the optional vegetables if you wish

  7. Over medium heat stir until onions are clear

  8. Add the mixture in the second pan to the meat

  9. Simmer until meat and potatoes are done cooking.
